About ITG Air Filters The Best Air Filters Ever Made, Period.
ITG's current range is the product of almost 19 years of constantly striving for the best designs, made from the best materials with the best manufacturing methods. Whether you're racing, rallying, cruising or shopping, you can be sure nobody makes a better filter.
The best proving ground for any performance product has always been motorsport, that's why top teams from WRC/F2 Rally Cars to Super Touring and Formula 1, make ITG their first choice in air filtration.
WHY ITG?
The technology of 'Reticulated Polyester Foam' allows itg greater flexibility in design and performance than paper or cotton gauze style filters. itg was probably the first company to manufacture a truly durable, high performance foam-based production air filter.
Why foam? Because, compared to paper or other filter technologies, reticulated polyester foam achieves optimum performance against three key criteria:
1. Maximum Air Flow - the filters ability to allow air to pass through without causing a large pressure-drop.
2. Cleaning Efficiency - the capacity of a filter to arrest a high proportion of the dust carried in the air, whilst feeding the engine clean air.
3. Dust Load-up Tolerance - the capability to absorb a large amount of dust, without reducing air flow capacity.
With the unique Tri-Foam System, which uses various thicknesses of finer or coarser foams, these factors can be varied for different applications.
Tri-foam gives us the flexibility to produce air filters to exact specifications and, where high flow rates are possible, we can tailor filters to arrest even the slightest dust traces.
What's more, because we use the very latest adhesive technologies to bond the foam layers, itg filter assemblies are totally resistant to water, fumes, oils and fuels - including the exotic brews used in racing.
By using various thicknesses of finer or coarser foams, itg designers can vary the above factors to achieve the optimum for each application. It has been shown that small quantities of dust particles smaller than 10 microns have no significant effect on engine wear, so the materials used in our range of filters have been carefully selected to give good air flow capacity, excellent load-up tolerance, and high efficiency whilst avoiding unnecessary extraction. Where high dust flow rates are possible, itg tailors the filters to arrest even the slightest dust.
In addition, itg filter construction reduces noise significantly, when compared with competing designs. Although any competition-type filter will lead to an increase in noise over original equipment, an itg filter will probably give more power for longer, whilst remaining quieter than other competition filter types.
Look at the figures in the graph to see just how an itg filter out performs the best cotton or paper filters.
While paper filters are very good at filtration,
they lack in air flow and overall life. Since filtration
is so fine with a paper filter, they easily clog up quickly
hindering their usefulness as a filter.
Oil
soaked cotton gauze filters flow better than paper, but
the oil and the metal mesh that holds the gauze together
also blocks airflow, especially units with solid/metal
tops. Remember less surface area=less airflow, so any
material
that blocks the filter element also blocks airflow. While
most cotton gauze filters offer a lifetime warranty,
after they are used, cleaned, and re oiled a few times
their
filtration diminishes. Not all of the dirt is removed
when they are cleaned, but embedded within its gauze
making
it less capable of filtering after each cleaning.
ITG
uses foam with light coating of oil (dust retention coating).
This coating helps trap dirt within the many
of the cavitys of the foam element. ITG provides the
maximum air flow, and optimum filtration. Unlike cotton
gauze,
once a ITG filter is cleaned, its as good as new as
all dirt elements are easily rinsed out with water...no
special
cleaner is required to buy like cotton gauze.
Note:
While we are one of ITG's largest importers of their filters, we don't stock
every part #. We can custom order any filter you may need, but it may take
up to 4-6 weeks to arrive.
